LGBT History Month: LGBT Icons and Unsung Heroes

LGBT History Month: LGBT Icons and Unsung Heroes

October is LGBT History Month. Members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community are more- or less-known. They come from all walks of life and, together, they become the fabric of the community. This is a post mentioning LGBT icons as much as unsung heroes of the community.

While many may be familiar with LGBT names like Harvey Milk, Randy Shilts or Ellen Degeneres, they may not be aware of other LGBT individuals who make up the backbone of this community... they are LGBT unsung heroes who are rarely recognized by name, but whose names and merits should be recognized. Read more about these individuals in Backbone, a photography book dedicated to them:

Unsung LGBT heroes are listed in Backbone, a photo book praising the LGBT community by Art by Alina Oswald. http://store.blurb.com/my/ebooks/94044-b-a-c-k-b-o-n-e
