More Images from NYC Pride 2014

Grand Marshals Laverne Cox, Jonathan Groff; Fireworks and More

August is almost days away, and for those who may not know, August is Pride Month in New Jersey. So, with that in mind, I thought to post a few more images from New York City Pride, 2014, and give a short summary of my Pride Day.

I took off early, in order to make it on time, register, get my media pass, and be there for the press conference that preceded the March. Grand Marshals Laverne Cox [Orange Is the New Black], Jonathan Groff [HBO's Looking, The Normal Heart], among others, spoke at the press conference.

Then the March started, on a glorious sunny, summer day. The image below captures my view down on Fifth Avenue, from 35th Street, right before the start of the 2014 New York City Pride March.

It's always exciting to photograph the Grand Marshals. Usually they are celebrities, well-known and admired individuals. This year, Jonathan Groff of HBO's series Looking (he also appeared in HBO's The Normal Heart) was one of the Grand Mashals.

This Pride Day I got together with a few friends and people I admire, and spent some time with them after finishing taking pictures. A wonderful way to reconnect, and a fantastic repeat from last year. Maybe Pride Day will become our annual gathering....

Also, this year I got to go to the Dance on the Pier. Pictures from that event coming up soon.

I made it back to Jersey just in time for the fireworks. Yes, dead tired and worn out from a full day photographing in the city, fortunately I still found some energy to take me to the waterfront, to shoot the fireworks display, and the Empire State Building beaming in rainbow colors.

Until next June, there are more events to cover, such as Pride Month in Jersey. But Empire State Building doesn't get to shine in rainbow colors but once a year. For that, we have to yet until Pride Day 2015.

As always, thanks for stopping by!
