Photos from OF THE MIND Art Show

Photos from Of the Mind art show hosted by Casa Colombo

As promised, I'd like to share a brief summary of the Of the Mind art show opening night at Casa Colombo, this past weekend. I think it was a fantastic night. Lots of work involved, but I, personally, had a blast, and from the looks of it, I got the feeling that others enjoyed the evening, too.

I showed images of New York City, vampires, and vampires in New York City. But before I get more into my own photographs, I want to thank a few people for making it all possible:

First of all, many thanks to Casa Colombo for hosting the show. Many thanks to my wonderful curator, artist Giuseppe Munafo, for accepting my artwork in the show, and also for all the help and guidance he had to offer. I much appreciate it that he allowed me to show artwork that resonates with a different side of me. For that and for everything, I am much grateful, more than I would ever be able to express in words. I'd like to thank the other artists, also part of the Of the Mind show, family members and friends who helped me in all ways to make it a success.

Yours truly, at Casa Colombo, during JCAST

Also, many thanks to those who stopped by to check out the artwork.

Special thanks to Sally Deering of Riverview Observer for taking the time to stop by and even interview me.

Now, the show would not have been possible without several individual very dear to me.

Ultra special thanks to my wonderful, fabulous vampires, you know who you are. In particular I'm forever grateful to my favorite Vampire James, who even stopped by the opening in flesh and blood, and posed for many, many pictures. Oh, and talking about pictures, I appreciate it that Henry and Tim not only stopped by to see the show, but also took lots of photos. That was fantastically helpful, because the entire night I was busy chatting with everybody about images, in particular, and I ended up taking only two images with my iPhone.

And speaking of pictures, here's a fun vampire composite, with many more to follow in the upcoming posts.

So for now I will leave you with your own vampire fantasies. I'll be posting more pictures from the opening, very soon.

Thanks for stopping by.

PS: A brief update on the show.... I'd like to thank Sally Deering, River View Observer reporter, for stopping by Casa Colombo and attending the opening night of the OF THE MIND art show. Here's the article she wrote about the show, an article published in the River View Observer

Of the Mind: Art Show at Casa Colombo

2014 Jersey City Artists Studio Tour and Of the Mind Art Show at Casa Colombo

Man, I peek at the dates on my latest blog entries and can't believe my eyes. Ouch! Has it really been so long? Time flies! And busy is not an excuse, but I had to get it out of my system.

But, hey, I'm here now, blogging again. And that's because I am excited to let you know that I just finished putting up my artwork yesterday, at Casa Colombo gallery. Casa Colombo will be part of this year's Jersey City Artist Studio Tour (so, yes, make sure you stop by this weekend). Casa Colombo will also host my art show, Of the Mind, opening on October 25th.

So, if you happen to be in town, stop by and check it out. I plan on stopping by the gallery this Saturday evening, and I'll definitely be there this Sunday, 10/19, 2 to 6 PM, signing books--Journeys Through Darkness: A Biography, and other books.

Home for the Italian Educational and Cultural Center, Casa Colombo is located at 380 Monmouth Street, in Jersey City. Check it out at www.casacolombo.org.

Part of the show, there are a few vampire-inspired images (it's October after all) and also photographs of vampires in New York City.

For more images, feel free to check out my vampire series posted at www.alinaoswald.com and http://alinaoswald.com/vampires/

Hope too see you there!

PS: A few thoughts on the 2014 Jersey City Artists Studio Tour and Casa Colombo being part of the tour

At Casa Colombo. Photo by Henry W.
I was at Casa Colombo on Sunday, 10/19, the last day of the JCAST. I am happy to say that a lot of people stopped by. Many of them asked me about the artwork, and many of them wanted to chat about my photography...something I appreciate very very much.  I also appreciate Henry W. for stopping by the gallery with his camera, and taking a few pictures of me, in front of my artwork. You can imagine my surprise when I saw an email from him, with a few pictures attached, and a link to the Meetup NY Walks blog that mentioned the event. I'd like to take the opportunity to thank him again.

Also hope to see Henry, and you all at Casa Colombo this Saturday, October 25th, at 6 PM, for the opening of our OF THE MIND show.

Hope you will be able to make it!

Many thanks!
